How to Create Your First Shooting Session

Step-by-step guide to creating a shooting training session, managing squads, and accepting registrations in Velox.

Create your first training session

This guide walks you through creating and publishing your first training session in Velox.

A session is where everything starts, it defines when people shoot, how squads are organized, and what information shooters receive before arriving at the range.

By the end of this guide, you’ll have a complete session ready for shooters to register.

To create a session:

  1. Open the sidebar.
  2. Open the Admin Portal section.
  3. Click on the Session Planner option.

Basic Info

This section defines how your session appears to shooters and how it’s organized at a high level.

Clear and accurate information here helps reduce confusion and questions later.

Squad Roster

This is where you define when and how shooters will be grouped.

A good squad structure makes the session run smoothly and reduces bottlenecks on the range.

Description

Use the description to give shooters the context they need before registering.

This is the best place to explain round counts, equipment notes, schedules, or anything else that would otherwise lead to repeated questions.

Name

Files & Images

These fields help you make the session more useful and informative.

Use them to provide documents, schedules, stage information, or visual context before shooters arrive.

Extra Fields (Regulations)

Use this section when the session requires additional information, acknowledgements, or compliance-related details during registration.

This is especially useful when clubs need to collect regulatory data or apply organization-specific requirements.

After completing all of these steps, click the Create Session button. A confirmation message will appear to let you know whether the session was created successfully.

Your session is live

Once the session is created, shooters can begin registering and selecting squads.

You can continue updating details, adjusting squads, and adding information at any time.
